At WL safaris we love being in the mountains:
After an exhilarating helicopter flight we stroll along the mountain ridge line of the Humboldt mountain range, Mt Alfred, or Mt Earnslaw, while New Zealand’s mountain parrots, the Kea, a curious bird come to enquire about our presence.
Up here it is time to walk, to capture, to observe and to replenish ourselves.
This is an opportunity to discover the richest of life in the New Zealand mountains with some of our rarest birds to spot, over 500 of our endemic plants are found up here, not to mention the views: they are astounding. With a cool morning breeze on your face, the first warm beams of sun on your skin, inhale the fresh mountain air, absorb the never ending scenery from above. Go where not many will go: the photographic opportunities will be endless.
There are various options how to do this Helihike, and we would prefer to discuss the options & your preferences in person with you, rather than bombarding you with set itineraries.
You will learn an incredible amount during the guided birding walk to Lake Sylvan & Bridal Veil Falls, Route Burn track in Mount Aspiring National Park. Often described as an enchanted forest, bird song will entice you to investigate further this magical destination. We discuss conservation efforts to protect native birds and flora species, and investigate its application while monitoring trap lines designed to control pest species in the area.
Following the silver ribbon stream to the lakes shore a mirrored vista opens before you. Dip your feet in the lakes crystal clear waters and enjoy a fresh cup of New Zealand Earl Gray Tea under the watchful gaze of Cosmos peaks.
You’re only half way through an incredible adventure, the rumble of Bridal veil falls on the world’s famous Routeburn Track is calling……
NZ $TBD for 3 days/ 2 nights per person sharing
Covering: Routeburn, Lake Sylvan or Paradise
