Getting Girls Interested in Physics.

radio, iPod, tablet, basically anything with a function to communicate, whether that be sms, call, video call, email, Facebook – really an infinite list. So quantum physics is actually pretty important to everyday life. Now this is just one area of quantum physics, which is just one corner of physics, which is just one piece of an enormous jigsaw puzzle that is science. Of course not all the pieces have been found and many still need to be slotted into their correct places. This is where you come in.

The world is currently in need of more people with physics backgrounds. Everything is constantly changing and new things are always being discovered or invented, you will never be bored, but unfortunately there aren’t currently enough people to meet the demand.

    Why should you choose physics?

Good question... Well, since the dawn of mankind, science has been the driving force of civilization. It has brought us incredible revolutions in every field. From the wheel that was invented over 7000 years ago, all the way to the mobile phone sitting in your pocket which probably came out last month. Science is the reason why all things exist. For instance, can you imagine yourself in a world without quantum physics? Your immediate answer is probably yes. I mean come on, quantum physics – how important is that to society?

The really great benefit of studying physics is that there are many fields to choose from, and within that field an area to specialise in, something that you might enjoy. Her at SciGirl, we have a range of interests within different science fields. Eric loves Physics, Grace biology, Karen engineering, Curtis chemistry and Alex medicine. However, we all share a passion for physics!

If you are even remotely interested in physics, we all really encourage you to take a look around the website & maybe even enter one of our competitions.

On behalf of all of us here at SciGirl we really hope to turn that spark of interest in your head into a roaring flame of physics!

Lets take the cell phone as an example. The cell phone is made up of hundreds of microchips they in turn are made up of thousands of transistors. Now the transistor is an excellent example of the results of quantum physics, a relatively recent idea in itself, & what mankind is capable of, without quantum physics there would be no transistor chips (one of the best inventions of all time) thus no cell phone, laptop, television,
